Move over Hickory Smoked and Oven Roasted, there are two new Tofurky Deli Slices hitting grocery store shelves. Tofurky Bologna and Roast Beef Style recently started shipping out of our Hood River facility and the internet buzz started coming in almost immediately. Our friends at Food Fight Grocery in Portland wrote in their newsletter, “Tofurky has really been stepping it up lately with some great new products...” Along with the onslaught of praise, we’ve also heard from a number of customers with questions, so we thought it might be fun the let these new kids on the Tofurky block answer for themselves.

Every year we put a fun postcard into our Tofurky Feast boxes as a little holiday present to our customers. Sometimes we get letters from fans who have turned the sending of our postcard into an annual holiday tradition with a loved one. This year we’re also offering a free holiday Ecard on our website, so that our fans can spread even more Tofurky love. When we discovered that our famous holiday roast was the inspiration for The Tofurky Song by Joanie Leeds and the Nightlights we thought featuring it in our Ecard would make a perfect holiday pairing, not unlike a Tofurky Roast smothered in our Savory “Giblet” Gravy.

We’re excited to announce that Tofurky is getting a brand new home! On July 22nd of this year we broke ground on a new 10 million dollar production facility to help meet the growing demand for our fast growing family of meat alternatives. The new plant will be 33,000 square feet in size and built on 1.5 acres of land purchased from the Port of Hood River about 200 yards from the banks of the Columbia River, in our current hometown of Hood River. The building is being environmentally designed to achieve LEED certification, and we are aiming for the highest level of LEED certification: Platinum. There are currently only five other buildings in the world with LEED Platinum certification.

We’re also excited to be collaborating with the Portland Audubon Society to implement a “green roof” that will not only create bird habitat but also a pleasing visual appearance to the Port of Hood River Industrial Area. A bocce court and two miniature golf putting holes will make the roof more people friendly in the whimsical spirit of our Tofurky brand. Our current production facility at 601 Industrial Avenue will be retained for tempeh production and renovated for future line extensions.
